The Della
Dream Foundation
was created in dedication to my mom, Della Sena, who did
everything in her power to give my three brothers, four
sisters and me opportunities she never had. Our home
was filled with love, music, laughter and dancing. Our
mom loved us and taught us what commitment and hard work
really meant. She protected us from the negative
influences of the outside world and sometimes the
negative events in our own home. She reminded us about
the love of God and the importance of family.
I had a dream
to dance and she helped me to fulfill that dream -
scraping and saving any money she could in order to pay
for my dance lessons. Without the support of my mom
and my seven brothers and sisters, I would never have
had the many opportunities I’ve had in my life. My
siblings always encouraged me and unselfishly supported
me both financially and emotionally. My sister Yolanda
who was only seventeen at the time bought me tumbling
mats and a trampoline to help me start teaching classes
in my basement. I was sixteen and she wanted to help me
start my own business. Other siblings supported my
travel with the International Group “Up With People” or
helped with supplies so I could start my own little
dance studio in my basement. They are the true meaning
of “We Are Family”!
This
foundation could be named “The Family Foundation”, but I
know that my brothers and sisters agree with me and love
the idea of honoring our mom. I would like to honor
every mom who gives to her children the way my mom did.
Many people in life reach out and give of their time and
money to support children in need. I have the honor and
responsibility to give back to my community and to those
children and moms who need a little extra help.
The Della
Dream Foundation will provide financial assistance in
the form of scholarships for families in need with
children whose passion lies in the Arts, and who are
committed to personal growth and education.
Please
consider sponsoring a child for camp this summer. As a
token of our gratitude and friendship, all Guardian
